First Piece Exploded

I can't beleive it, it seemed like everything was going fine then I dropped it into the water and it broke.  I think it wasn't dry enough because the clay did catch fire.  So I either didn't torch it long enough or it was still damp or both.  Oh well on to the next piece.

My first piece step 1

This is my first PMC piece it is still wet, so just hanging out while it dries.

PMC Kit Arrived!

Well PMC Kit came last night but by the time I went through it, watched the DVD with the projects on it and made a list of the things I need to gather it was too late to start playing with it.  I did buy copper clay to practice with so I can’t wait to get started tonight.  Of course I went to Michael’s today and bought more supplies.  I was a little disappointed with the DVD.  The kit came with a torch and most of the projects were for a kiln.  I felt like it was a sales pitch.  Hopefully I can get it all together tonight and get something done.

PMC NEWBIE

I just ordered a PMC (precious metal clay) kit and it is suppose to arrive Tuesday.  I can't wait, the add stated that it include everything I needed to learn the basics including a small blow torch!  (I will check to make sure my homeowners insurance is paid up!)  Like a said, I am very excited to get started.  So in the mean time if anyone has any tips for first time PMC users, please feel free to comment.

Hello and Welcome

Since this is my first post I wanted to tell you a little about me and my hopes for what I want this blog to become.
I make jewelry and I am just beginning to sell on Etsy I have already been selling vintage jewelry at Cjsjems.etsy.com. (plug)  My goal is to start selling handmade pieces of my own.  I fancy myself as creative and I am the type of person who wants to try everything and I have a basement that proves it.
My hope for this blog is to develop a place where beginners and pros alike will join forces to:
·         Give and get tips and advice.
·         Create a source where we can find suppliers through are critiques and recommendation.
·         Spotlight member’s online stores and/or blogs.
·         Have a critique corner where members can submit their pieces for feedback. (Everyone hates this process but it is often need and helpful.  We have all had those pieces where something is just not right.)

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you will become a valuable asset to my blog.
